Coffee Deals, Thrift Treasures & Meeting Wilbur

Our last day in Manchester was bittersweet—we were already falling for the city’s energy, but excited to start our next pet sit in Chorlton. We kicked things off with a cozy breakfast stop at a spot called Coffee House. Tucked just off the main stretch, it had the kind of relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger. They were offering a breakfast sandwich and coffee pairing for just 5 euros (a total steal). Even better? They were kind enough to swap the hot coffee for iced Americanos—much appreciated on a warm morning like this one.

With caffeine and carbs fueling us, we set off to explore a few more corners of the city. One of our favorite discoveries: Afflecks. If you’ve never heard of it, imagine an emporium of eclecticism, a multistory labyrinth of indie commerce, vintage finds, and pure personality in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Every stall felt like its own tiny world—punk accessories, custom art prints, secondhand gems, and things you didn’t know you needed until you saw them.

As the sun began to dip, we grabbed a quick dinner from a street vendor, tucked into a bench nearby, and reflected on how fast Manchester had carved out a space in our hearts.

Then it was train time—we made our way to Chorlton to begin our next adventure: a five-day pet sit with the sweetest pup named Wilbur. We met up with his owner Vickey, who welcomed us into her home and introduced us to her lovely family. Wilbur’s a total goofball (more on him soon), and we already know we’re in for a joyful, tail-wagging week ahead.
